In the Quantum World, Even Points of View Are Uncertain

Anil Ananthaswamy from Quanta Magazine has written an engaging and accessible article, featuring our 2024 work on quantum reference frames.

Our research investigates how concepts like superposition and entanglement depend on the observer’s perspective and extends these ideas to scenarios where spacetime itself exists in a quantum superposition. This work aims to deepen our understanding of the interplay between quantum theory and gravity, offering a fresh perspective on Einstein’s famous “hole argument” in a quantum context.

A big thank you to Anil for crafting such a compelling and insightful piece, and for highlighting the broader implications of our research!

Sparks of Quantum Physics

In the summer of 2023, I participated in an outreach video, "Sparks of Quantum Physics: Perspectives Shaping the Future," aimed at increasing the visibility of women in quantum science and highlighting the multifaceted lives of physicists. The video features five women from the Quantum Optics, Quantum Nanophysics, and Quantum Information groups at the Faculty of Physics, showcasing not only our work but also how creativity, nature, and our unique perspectives shape our lives beyond the lab.

World Quantum Day 2023

For World Quantum Day 2023, I co-organised two "ask a scientist" online sessions with Martin Ringbauer from the University of Innsbruck. These public outreach events, aimed at high school students across Austria, explored fundamental concepts of quantum physics—superposition, interference, and entanglement—and discussed how emerging quantum technologies will shape the future.

Rudolphina podcast

In 2022, I participated in a podcast with experimental physicist Lee Rozema. We discuss the intertwined worlds of experimentalists and theorists, sharing insights on how we navigate uncertainties in our work and the current trajectories of our respective fields in quantum physics.
